Saudi Arabia: MAO (Manar Al Omran) Unveils the “MAO Industrial Complex” with an Investment of SR 1.2 Billion: Unprecedented Scaffolding Manufacturing Power, Exporting to the World
DAMMAM, Eastern Province, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 02 September 2026. Manar Al Omran (MAO), the Kingdom’s scaffolding and formwork specialist since 1974, today announced the MAO Industrial Complex, an integrated industrial manufacturing platform spanning approximately one million square meters in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The development brings together five production factories, a flagship corporate head office and a complete residential community for 7,000 employees, with Saudization ratio crossing 60% and aiming for more, establishing MAO as a fully automated, vertically integrated scaffolding industrial group serving the Kingdom’s construction, energy and infrastructure sectors.
The complex is the largest collaborative investment in MAO’s history and marks the company’s transformation from the region’s scaffolding rental and services leader into a manufacturer of the systems themselves, in steel, cast Iron, aluminium extrusion and casting, and polymer, on a scale designed to serve the Kingdom’s giga-projects, its energy, petrochemical and other sectors and export markets worldwide.
SCAFFOLDING, STEEL & CAST HOUSE AT UNPRECEDENTED SCALE
At the heart of the complex is a 750,000-square-meter Industrial Scaffolding & Steel Complex dedicated entirely to MAO’s core business. Eight production facilities operate under one fence: the Kingdom’s one and only certified Ringlock system production line, a tube factory, a Cuplock factory, an engineered formwork factory, structural steel fabrication, shot blasting and powder coating, a dedicated hot-dip galvanizing plant and an in-house maintenance facility. Raw steel enters at one gate and leaves as galvanized, coated, dispatched product at the other, with no process step outsourced. With a daily output of 1,200 metric tons, it will be the largest single-site scaffolding factory in the world.
Alongside the steel complex, a dedicated Steel Cast House, built around a DISAMATIC automated molding line and deploying the most advanced green sand casting technology in the Kingdom, will produce high-volume grey and ductile iron castings: the accessories, fittings, couplers and components that scaffolding systems depend on. The only facility of its kind in the Kingdom, it brings the last outsourced element of the supply chain in-house.
ALUMINIUM EXTRUSION
An aluminium extrusion plant adds eight extrusion presses, led by four 12-inch, 50 MN presses, a battery without equal in the GCC and the largest concentration of 12-inch presses in a single location worldwide outside China. These presses allow MAO to produce large hard-alloy sections for scaffolding systems and other complex profiles serving the GCC and export markets. One 10-inch press, two 8-inch presses and one 7-inch press complete the line-up, all dedicated to hard alloys, with an annual capacity of around 200,000 metric tons. In-house powder coating and anodizing plants are core to the project, and a highly sophisticated billet cast house, dedicated to producing world-grade 12-inch hard-alloy billets and fed by recycled scrap and primary metal, lowers the carbon footprint of the product while securing raw material supply for the plant.
PLASTIC COMPOSITES & INNOVATION
A Plastic Composite Factory with thirty-two polypropylene profile extrusion lines and dedicated PVC and PP sheet lines completes the platform, serving construction, infrastructure and industrial clients with profiles, trunking and sheet products. A state-of-the-art R&D engineering office is dedicated to developing innovative solutions for the scaffolding industry, covering demand across the Kingdom and the GCC while leaving room for export markets. Cutting-edge new products have already been developed in collaboration with SABIC and Aramco.
“For more than fifty years, MAO has supplied the scaffolding that built the Kingdom. Today we are building the factories that will build the next fifty. When this complex is complete, every tube, every rosette, every cup, every casting and every formwork panel a project needs will come from one fence in the Eastern Province, made in Saudi Arabia, by MAO, with nothing outsourced. We are not expanding the manufacturing market. We are resetting its scale.”
